Hi, my name is Don, and I'm the founder of YourWillPro.
Like around 50% of Australians, I didn't have a will. I kept putting it off. I wasn't sure how it worked, and it didn't feel urgent.
Why I built this
As time went on — buying a home, starting a family, taking on more responsibility — it became clear that not having a will would create problems for the people I care about if something happened to me.
When I finally looked into it, I found the process confusing. I thought my situation was fairly typical, so I tried some of the "quick and easy" options. They asked me to fill in boxes but didn't explain the choices, why they mattered, or the consequences of getting them wrong. I had no confidence I was doing it properly. I could have gone to a lawyer, but I was conscious of the time, cost, and how little I understood going in.
What surprised me was that this wasn't entirely new. Many years earlier, I'd had a will done. It was out of date, but rereading it with what I'd learned, I was shocked by how much was missing.
What I discovered
I also realised this isn't just my experience. Many people put this off because it feels complex, expensive, and emotionally difficult. It forces decisions about family and money that are easy to avoid.
So I started reading. A lot. I came across cases where small mistakes caused big problems, and where families were left confused or arguing — not through bad intent, but because things weren't clearly set out.
By the time I was ready to sort out my own will, it was clear why so many people delay. It's not apathy — it's uncertainty. That's why I put this site together.
What this site is
YourWillPro is a free resource to help people understand what's involved, in plain language. No pressure, no sales pitch — just explanations, examples, and checklists to help you think things through properly.
A note on advice
I'm not a lawyer, and this site won't replace legal advice where it's needed. But I've been exactly where you might be now.
If this helps even one person avoid unnecessary problems later, then it's done what it was meant to do.
